ILS Specialist

I got a job as an Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) specialist.

Parts lists, drawings, training programs.  Stock numbers.

I wasn’t very good at it.  In fact, I put off doing what I was being paid

to do and wrote on my book.  A job came up in Tallahassee and I took it.

I left my employer in the lurch.  It was towards the end of my active drinking.

I don’t know what I thought I was up to.  I knew it would come back

to haunt me and it did.  Six months later I was let go from the permanent

state job I had taken two weeks before I completed my probation.

They could let me go for any reason or none.  Now, any employer

who wants to can do that, and they all want to, sooner or later.

Nobody has any job security but the destaffer and he might get

fragged by a disgruntled destaffee.  He’s insecure, too.

You live by the sword, you die by it.  Sooner of later.

You are replaced by a 12 year old girl

with a computer and a checklist.

She graduated first in her class

at Stanford or Wharton School.

Her daddy bought it for her.
