91.  Full Box

On weekends I went to The Red Bar

to hear Dread Clampitt play.  I was the Band Paparazzo

and Stage Father.  Also the webmaster.  I designed a web site

for them.  Took pictures.  I had a gimme cap from Full Box!,

a book about boatbuilding and fishing in Bay County

that mentioned Uncle Ed, and the Friendship.

The boys both fished on the Friendship.  Once, I was walking along

Crooked Island Beach when the Friendship steamed past, just beyond

the second sandbar, the green reef, and Owen saw me, and waved,

and I waved back at Owen.  He recognized me from my green crab net

and red Vidalia onion sack full of speckled speeder crabs and

giant Atlantic cockles.  Also known as the great heart cockle.

Its foot is as long as its shell.  And of course

Potter wrote a song called

“Crooked Island Sweeite.”
