45.  Potter Dies

We drove down to Potter’s memorial service

at Uncle Ed’s dock, in Parker.  Later, we scattered his ashes

in Parker Bayou off the stern of the Friendship.  A porpoise

rode the bow wave to the dock.  Gerald recited Tennyson’s

“Crossing the Bar.”  I think Duke sang “Angel Band”

at the memorial service.  We were all living in Georgia.

Potter had a lot of friends.  Everybody loved him.
