96.  The Lion King

 

It must have been Jean and her mother who took Ella to see

The Lion King.  Owen wouldn’t go across the street to see

a Broadway Play.  When he was nominated for a Grammy

he told Forest Whitaker he liked his work in Bird.

“My father was a Charlie Parker fan,” he said.

No, Bird, Bird was a lion.  Owen was nominated

in the category Traditional Gospel as a sideman

(fiddle player) with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver.

Andy Griffith won.  Late-Night-TV Songs-from-Mayberry.

He had the grace to be embarrassed by it.

I liked Forest Whitaker in

Ghost Dog:  The Way of the Samurai.

All famous people know each other.

I got as much chance of winning a fellowship to

a writers colony as Balder and them have to be invited

to the Songwriters Festival at Escape to Create in Seaside.
