41.  Seaside Rep

The first play I saw at Seaside Rep

was Picasso at the Lapin Agile.  It was a hoot.

Jennifer Steele played the barmaid.  Jennifer also did

Always…Patsy Cline, with recorded music and with

a live band.  And with Teance Blackburn as Louise.

I remember a show around Christmas that took place

in Big Tuna, Texas.  I remember Long Day’s Journey

Into Night, and a couple of avant-garde plays from England.

I quit going because I don’t get out much at night.  I wrote a play

and sent it to them about the Hogtown Hellcats but they didn’t

want it.  That might have taken the bloom off the rose, for me.

Also, their not inviting Dread Clampitt to Escape to Create,

the Songwriters Festival.  Are they not songwriters?

Am I not a poet?  A beet poet?  Make borscht when

I sex the chickens?  Out of the roosters?

I look like Rooster Cogburn in True Grit.

Jeff Bridges.  Gabby Hayes as Roy Rogers’ sidekick.

Nick Nolte in Down and Out in Beverly Hills.

Nick Nolte in New York Stories as Lionel Dobie.

Highway 30A Stories.  Dobie was a blocked painter.

Your bowels is locked.  Open.

Your prose is too prolix.
