We spent the second summer on the mound in Panacea
living in a rented beach
cottage out on Alligator Point.
We went back and forth to the site in several
vehicles.
We bathed in the gulf and showered outside with fresh water.
We ate
supper at The Oaks. Jack Neff visited. At the end
of the summer, Brenda and
I got married. Oh, yea, there was
an altercation on the mound. I wrote a story
about it, called
"The Summer of the Mutiny." Another story was called
"The
Revolt of Large Brown." That was it for me and Brenda
in prehistoric archeology.
Our membership in the Order of
the Blue Trowel was rescinded.
