I went to a small press conference in Tarpon Springs.
I met Duane Locke, David
Cussen, Pineapple Press, Carol Mahler,
and John Pyros, who hosted the conference.
I took Owen and Balder
with me. We stayed in the Gondolier Motel on Spring Bayou,
across
from the Community Center where the conference was held. It was May.
The
jacaranda were in bloom. The 1st annual Seafood Fesitval was being held at
the
sponge docks. We ate, we bought Greek fisherman hats, as souvenirs.
I still
wear mine. With a Kurt Schwitters Centennial cloisonné Merz pin.

That's my summer flying jacket, from L. L. Bean.
Happy landings to you,
Amelia Earhart.
That's my gap-toothed smile.
The boys caught jack crevalle
off the seawall,
using menhaden the jack knocked over the wall with their heads
for
live bait. Balder collected them in a bucket. He was Owen's nigger.
Owen smoked
the jack on a disposable charcoal grill and we had them as
an hors d'oeuvre
with sharp cheddar cheese and Saltine crackers.
Then we went to Pappas's and ate
roast lamb and garlic
with fresh rosemary.
