Four Months of Daily Typewriting

Q: Have you considered the possibility that On Assignment is just four months of daily typewriting.

A: That's all it is.

But it was an interesting interlude.

Q: Is today your last day at work?

A: I thought Friday was my last day, but I came in three days this week, to finish up.

Today's the last day.

Q: What's next?

A: I'm packing my grip.

Q: Are you taking a trip?

A: In my head, yes.

In my room.

Bukowski did some good writing in his room.

Q: So On Assignment came to nothing?

A: I wouldn't say that.

I published half of it online, as I wrote it.

I finished the book.

It's a good book.

I gave some pamphlets away, at the writers conference.

I spoke out there. At the junior college.

People listened to me.

Well, one person came to hear me.

But he seemed interested.

Q: And you finished your assignment at work without getting fired.

A: Yes, they were happy with my work at work.

I did a good job for them.

Q: But it ended. You're out of work.

A: No gig lasts forever, Owen says.

Something will turn up.
