When Owen got married, we paid for the rehearsal dinner
and bought clothes for the wedding. I didn’t own a suit.
I had a sport coat from J. C. Penny but it didn’t fit. So we both
had to buy wedding outfits. Owen and Jean were married in a church
on
in a lovely bed and breakfast. My side of the family came,
and Suzette represented Brenda’s side. Potter was dead.
Susan and Robbie were there, with my mother.
It was a lovely affair. I worked at Lucent Technologies
and could afford it. There were times, before and after,
when I wouldn’t have been able to without running up
the balance of our credit cards. Back then, I got
a Christmas bonus amounting to 10% of my base pay.
Jeannie was a lovely bride, and Owen was as handsome as
a rock star or a movie star, and as talented. Jean had graduated
from college and taken a job with a non-profit charity
fundraising and coordinating volunteers.
