Dear Janet Reid:

Enclosed find a description of BREW'S NEWS: NEWS THAT ISN'T FIT FOR THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA TO PRINT and my qualifications to write it, plus several days of YU News Service columns by Art Brew.

The book has taken shape, and is off like Gangbusters. Finding a form is energizing.

What's the plot? Homegrown Pow Wow is March 19. I guess what happens between now and then is the plot, with backstory, flashes forward, analysis, Ezra Pound said this about criticism:

I consider criticism merely a preliminary excitement, a statement of things a writer has to clear up in his own head sometime or other, probably antecedent to writing; of no value unless it come to fruit in the created work later.

One time Charles Willeford sent me a copy of New Forms of Ugly: The Immobilized Hero in Modern Fiction, inscribed, "To Jack Saunders - immobilized in Del Ray."

But apes can brachiate faster than forests can recede.

I moved to Panama City, to Atlanta, and back to Panama, and if I seem a little settled in, I have just found my spot, like Dick and Jane's Spot, across from the police station, in Ellensburg, Washington.
