In the Big Cypress

In the Big Cypress, Brenda looked like

Meryl Streep and I looked like Chris Cooper

in Adaptation.  The Park Service took away

the mom-and-pop motel in Ochopee, the Golden Lion,

and made it their headquarters.  Eminent domain.

I don’t see it as being that much different than

what we did to the Indians.  It don’t seem that crazy

to me.  It’s what I expect.  From the white man.

The haole.  A term I learned in Hawaii.

It means white devil, or goddamned white man.

I called myself Albino Grizzly.  I saw a bee-tree

from the boardwalk at Fackahatchee Strand.

Berserker is from wearer of the bear shirt,

invincible in battle.  Recklessly valorous.

The Seminole term is hadjo.  You have to earn it.

That motherfucker crazy.  Little Richard.
