Munro S. Edmonson
played The Anthropology Major
in the 1951
production of Tom Lehrer’s The Physical
Review
and The Professor in
the 1952 production. He was Lehrer’s
roommate
at Harvard. He had his party records. I remember having to listen to them,
and thinking, “I
guess you had to be there,” or, “Is it me who’s crazy?”
I also thought,
“What have we gotten ourselves into?” We
didn’t know
the unwritten
rules. We were gauche. We were hicks. The poor boys at
the party. Title of a book by Robert Gover, who also
wrote The Maniac
Responsible. I thought I was going to be a
Grove Press author.
What happened to
him? He gives stock market advice
based on
astrology. He lives in
Slower lower
THE ANTHROPOLOGY
MAJOR after reading
Jim Harrison’s The English Major. Is it a part
of Generation of Strainers: A Life on Paper?
Who do I pitch that
book to?
How do I sell that
book?
Nobody cares about
your unpublished
play.
Talent unrewarded
is the most leprous
hotdog in the pot.
I look up Robert
Gover
on the Internet. He was friends
with Jim Morrison of
The Doors.
