Dear Philip Turner:
This is in response to Publishers Marketplace.
I am scheduled to
read at a book release party at Zine Fest 2005. The event is sponsored by the Underground
Literary Alliance (ULA). The book I'm reading from is Bukowski Never Did This,
from LitVision Press, a ULA member.
The organizers hope the reading will
be like the reading at the Six Gallery in San Francisco, when Allen Ginsberg first
read "Howl."
I am writing a book about participating in the event,
as the headliner, doing another zine show in Atlanta, two weeks later, and selling
my book along Florida's Northwest Coast. I also go to hear a bluegrass band my son
plays in, in Atlanta, with my wife, and visit Howard Finster's Paradise Garden, in
Summerville, Georgia, on the way home to Panama City, Florida.
The book
is called INSIDE UNDERGROUND WRITING: TWO ZINE FESTS, A HOOTENANNY, AND A SIDE-TRIP
TO PARADISE GARDEN.
I am serializing it online, daily, as I write it, at
The Daily Bulletin.
I will finish the book the first week in August.
Would you like to see the completed manuscript, then?
By then I will have
had two weeks of feedback from the Philly reading. And incorporated it into the book.
It could be a big anticlimax.
That's the drama of it.
