My Year in the Life of an Underground Writer

I thought my technical writing job was permanent, but after six months I was fired for blogging.

I found another job, as a grantwriter.

I worked at it for six months. Until my first performance appraisal.

I had stolen back to my same old used-to-be. I was writing books at work instead of applying for grants.

I ended the book on a nervous note.

How long before my errant ways caught up with me?

LitVision Press asked to publish the book I had just written.

I called it Bukowski Never Did This: A Year in the Life of an Underground Writer and His Family.

A play on Bukowski's title Shakespeare Never Did This and the fact that Bukowski never did write a novel, work full-time, and keep a marriage together, be a father to two children, growing up.

He didn't write 250 books without selling one for money.

I wrote 250 books before I sold Bukowski Never Did This for money.
