Headliner

I was a headliner at the readings, along with

Bill Blackolive, Last Laugh, Tales of the Texas Gang.

He lifted weights and kept pitbulls.  He stayed in a friend’s apartment

in a high-rise building that faced the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.

This was before they were attacked by hijacked aircraft.  He had allergies,

and was careful about what he drank, what drugs he took.  We ate brunch at

a French restaurant and shared a cab to the airport.  Every now and then

I hear from him.  He believes in some conspiracy theories I neither

believe nor disbelieve.  What do I know?  A wild man from Texas

and a giant from Georgia.  Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

John Dillinger and Babyface Nelson.  Abbott and Costello

meet the Wolfman, Loup-Garou, or Blue Dog.

Hatiitians ate the communion wafers.

He thought Indians were spiritual.

Also, people who exercised.

He’s tougher than Jesse Bernstein.
