My three pamphlets got such a good response
I wrote an open letter called “Sore Loser,”
when Edmund Skellings won, saying, “Ha ha,
I told you.” This did not endear me to the Division of
Cultural Affairs, or Secretary of State Firestone. But it
encouraged me to publish a book I called Screed,
after one of the three Poet Pretender pamphlets.
