Balder Is Stationed in New Orleans

Point and Shoot, Florida (YU)--When Balder graduated from the John Philip Sousa School of Music--first in his class--he was stationed in New Orleans.

He bought a car.

He came home on leave, and his car needed work, so Heap had his mechanic work on it and Balder drove his truck back to the base. Then, when Balder's car was ready, he drove to New Orleans and swapped vehicles with him.

He spent a weekend with Balder eating out, and visiting with Larry and Hazel.

He met Balder's roommates. Balder lived off base, in the neighborhood in Algiers William S. Burroughs lived in when Jack Kerouac came through and visited him.

Heap told Balder and Balder got to tell his roommates.

They knew William S. Burroughs from Drugstore Cowboy.

Now, they would know Charles Bukowski from Factotum.

If they knew him at all.
