Bywater Studio

After the radio program, on the way home, Larry drove through the Ninth Ward, past Dr. Bob's Bywater Studio, on Chartres Street, and stopped.

We went in.

Dr. Bob was in Memphis, but two of his helpers were around, doing scutwork, and let us make ourselves at home.

I took a picture of a sign, with some black men in the street, beneath it, and a picture of the trash, the levee, and the New Orleans skyline.

Then we drove through the Lower Ninth Ward. That was like scenes from the tsunami.

All those empty houses, with blown-off roofs and smashed-out windows.

Were the people who lived there coming back?

Larry said now people were talking openly about not wanting the people who lived there to come back.

What people?

People on call-in radio programs.

Oh. Those people. The Voice of the People people.

They helped the tsunami victims.
