Balder's Car
Point and Shoot, Florida (YU)--Balder got orders to go to Okinawa and offered
to let Heap keep his car, while he was overseas, if Heap would finish paying for
it and keep it up.
Heap agreed.
Balder came to Atlanta and got him,
drove him back to New Orleans.
He said goodbye to Balder, saw him off.
Brenda had bought a trailer in Wewa. Heap went by there to see her, on his way back
to Atlanta, in Balder's car. A secondhand Toyota Camry with leather seats and a
sun roof.
He had a short visit with Larry and Hazel in New Orleans while
he was there.

When Balder got back from overseas, Heap gave him his car back. He had finished
paying for it and kept it up.
By then, Brenda had quit her job at the prison,
moved to Atlanta, got a good job, and they'd bought a house in Norcross, a VA repo
on an FHA loan.
They were homeowners again, their credit repaired. They
both had good jobs.
They worked at the last high-tech, high-paying jobs they
were to have, possibly the last high-tech, high-paying jobs anyone in America was
going to have. But for sure the last ones they would have.
