| Retired, contract writer, custodian, unemployed, looking for a job. | Internet computer, self-published pamphlets | Continue to publish a book a month on the worldwide web. Start publishing pamphlets again. Adventures in the Underground published. Attend crafts shows and book fairs. Give presentations, sign books. | I develop a sang-froid about my work. See that I am writing what I call a correspondence novel. Write books that read like a letter to a friend, or from a friend, and send hard copies of the manuscript to Larry and Hazel. What's it all about, Alfie? I don't know, I never knew, I probably won't know now, and if I knew, I would forget. I'm getting senile. So what--I'll write about that. Douglas Fairbairn had Alzheimer's and died not knowing he had been a writer. Think about changing name of 40-Year Run to A Pretty Good Run. Then, wherever I crap out, that's the end. I did the best I could with what I had. Enough is as good as a feast. I am Fortune's favorite child, like Walter Anderson. |
