New Iberia

We left I-10 at Breaux Bridge and drove down through St. Martinsville, to New Iberia, where I got lost.

I ended up in a black part of town.

It made me think of the last Dave Robicheaux novel I read. Poverty, drugs, petty crime. Unemployment.

I dug there before James Lee Burke published any Dave Robicheaux novels. But I did read Jim Kane in the New Iberia public library when it came out, and became a huge J. P. S. Brown fan.

We got directions and found Shadows-on-the-Teche.
