Who These Books Will Appeal To

I believe this series of books will appeal to working stiffs, would-be writers, the significant others of writers, who don't understand what makes their loved one act so crazy, readers interested in the future of the novel, in these glitzy, philistine times, and political conservatives, who like to be made terrible fun of by liberals. I have a cult following and that's who makes it up.

Can a writer like me cross over from the underground to the mainstream?

Sure. The underground is where cultural icons come from, in the arts.

Do my long years of rejection work against me?

Anyone who knows how the publishing industry works would have predicted them. They work for me. I stood, and in the evil day, withstood.

This is an interesting story and it has a happy ending. Or it might have a happy ending. The resolution is in suspense. That's the drama of it.

It's like the old Saturday afternoon serials of my youth. Gene Autry singing "That Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine." Owen dedicating the song to me from the stage of Clem's Shoal Creek Park in Lavonia, Georgia. Owen and Balder turned out all right. I turned out all right. I didn't quit, sell out, or turn bitter.
