Dear Leah Heifferon:
I am just finishing a book called OLD FOLKS AT HOME: A FLORIDA CRACKER'S SUNSET
CRUISE.
It's about life on the plantation of corporate cubicle dot-com culture.
An older writer, Old Folks, drives around Florida's Forgotten, and Florida's Emerald
Coasts, remembering what they used to be like and comparing them to what they are
turning into. He's old enough to remember the vanishing mullet culture, a way of
life the net ban put the quietus to.
At the same time, the book is about
my serving on the Diversity Council at Lucent Technologies, and seeing how that worked,
from the inside. A white guy with divergent views.
Well, I've always been
a white guy with divergent views. That don't make me a bad fellow.
I should
finish writing the book this month and it should run 50,000 words. Would you like
to see the manuscript when I finish writing it?
