Pyle was retired, but he worked as a technical writer, when he could find work.
He was finishing up a 90-day contract job writing training programs for the unemployed.
He had written two, in two months. Sheetmetal worker and electronics technician.
He was finishing the third one, machinist.
He would soon be let go for lack
of work.
Soon, he would be unemployed.
He would not be eligible for
unemployment because he had drawn unemployment for a year, before he got the three-month
temporary job, and had exhausted his benefits.
No benefits were available
to him at this time.

BLACK HARVEST was posted at Pyle's web site, The Daily By-Catch.

He snapped the book off, when he finished it.
Then, he went back and added
to it.

Have your secretary go to the link, print out each day's daily typewriting,
and collate them for you.
If you have a color printer, you'll get colored
pictures.
Imagine reading the book online, daily, as it's being written.
Wouldn't that be exciting.
Past glory. What have you done for me lately?
